Industrial Measurement Surveyor - USA

As the Industrial Measurement Surveyor, you will work independently completing a full range of small to large measured building surveys, using innovative technology and processing data in the office to a high working standard. 

You will be involved in the industrial measurement activities of the business, encompassing structure dimensional control surveys along with terrestrial and underwater LiDAR measurement of plants and infrastructure including nuclear plants and water utility infrastructure. You will be confident working on multi-disciplined survey projects and will have a competent understanding of surveying methods and data capture. You will have experience processing raw survey data and CAD data to produce complex deliverables.You will share your expertise and knowledge with less experienced team members to assist their development, by providing practical experience onsite and coaching during office-based work.

This is a full-time role with office hours of Monday to Friday from 9.00 – 5.30, however site hours will vary so overtime and occasional weekend working will be required.

Objectives of this Role

·       Complete measured building surveys, of various scale and complexity, independently to a high standard
·       Work on large and complex surveying projects with team members of various technical ability and experience, to complete the project to a high standard
·       Provide guidance and direction to team members on large and complex survey projects
·       Work effectively on projects with trainee, junior and survey technician level staff, assisting with their development by providing practical experience onsite and with office work
·       Process multi data sets from various instrumentation to a high working standard, including measured building and topographical data
·       Undertake initial site inspections and complete dynamic risk assessments when attending survey sites, reporting any safety issues to the wider surveying team or to management
·       Provide support to dimensional control and nuclear measurement activities as required
·       Assessing RFQs, interfacing with customers, and ensuring proposals are achievable and profitable
·       Help develop best practices for the company in 3D laser scanner data collection, data processing, and deliverables for large area indoor and outdoor industrial or power generation facilities.
·       Help develop standard techniques for unique problems presented by customers, especially when combining topside 3D point clouds with underwater 3D point clouds from LiDAR or multi-beam sonar
·       Perform projects from 3D laser scanning data collection, through data processing, to final report to customer.  Hire, mentor, and train staff to perform the same with high quality.
·       Assist and contribute to underwater 3D laser scanning data processing techniques and best practices.  
·       Perform underwater 3D laser scanning data processing when required
 
Experience

·       Previous experience working in the surveying industry (2+ years)
·       Previous experience completing measured building surveys, of various scales or complexities, with laser scanners and/or traditional methods independently
·       Technical knowledge and previous practical experience of topographical surveying, including experience using surveying equipment and software
·       Hands-on experience with data collection, data processing, and project deliverables for 3D laser scanning of indoor and outdoor industrial facilities.  Experience with laser scanning within a nuclear facility or power generation environment is highly desirable.
·       Technical knowledge and previous practical experience of dimensional control surveying, including experience using surveying equipment and software
·       Extensive Leica Geosystems software experience covering Cyclone Core, Register 360 and Cyclone 3DR
·       Experience processing raw survey data and CAD data to a high working standard
·       Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) software in common use in the engineering and construction industry for example Revit or Civil 3D
·       Experience with the conversion of point cloud data into easy-to-use segmented 3D mesh models and to Solid models

Qualifications

·       A relevant Geomatics Surveying undergraduate, masters or postgraduate degree, or equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience.
·       Professional body membership is desirable.
·       Full driving license
·       Right to work in the USA
·       Ability to gain clearance to work within nuclear and other power plant facilities

3D at Depth is growing and has a need for full time Marine Construction / Construction Support Senior Surveyors based out of our Houston, Texas office. As a Senior Surveyor, you will support our Marine Construction / Construction Support project in the Americas, with the opportunity to travel and work on international jobs. A successful candidate must be a expert in Marine Construction / Construction Support who thoroughly understands the project requirements from beginning to end.

Subsea LiDAR Specialist – Houston, TX

3D at Depth is looking for a full-time Subsea LiDAR Technician to support our clients with operations, data processing, training, and project support.  The Subsea LiDAR Technician will become a leader in the fast-growing subsea laser scanning market. Projects will be in the offshore Oil and Gas market and the Subsea LiDAR Technician will be required to work on rigs or vessels supporting global projects.

The responsibilities of the Subsea LiDAR Technician include:
• On-shore client project and product support
• Project planning
• Off-shore systems integration and operations
• Processing point cloud data to develop or validate client deliverables; off-shore and on-shore
• Delivering technical training
• System logistics support and field readiness

The Subsea LiDAR Technician will work under the Americas Operations and Client Lead in Houston, TX.

Intern - Mechanical Engineer (Longmont)

3D at Depth is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in Longmont, Colorado. We provide advanced underwater LiDAR systems and solutions designed to help clients build, maintain, map and monitor underwater assets and resources. Our portfolio of Subsea LiDAR (SL) laser scanners combines integrated hardware and software technology to deliver repeatable, millimetric measured point clouds to address the challenges of underwater 3D measurement and visualization. Our solutions focus on increasing the efficiency and accuracy of data collection and visualization programs for offshore oil and gas, nuclear, commercial, research and government applications. This is an excellent professional development opportunity for someone interested in taking products from initial concept to production and then field service within a multi-disciplinary environment learning from experienced engineers working on real-world projects.

Job Type:

Responsibilities can include: 

• Assist in the development/design/ modification of underwater LIDAR and other related equipment 
• Assist with design, prototype build, test, and assembly instructions 
• Assist with Opto-Mechanical design 
• Assist with generating complex solid models and drawings 
• Assist with design, build, assembly, and validation of test fixtures 
• Assist with drawing reviews and tolerance analysis
• Work with the electrical design team for integration of circuit board mounting within the system 
• Assist in design and assembly of pressure vessels and other interfacing equipment 
• Generate and maintain production documentation, such as production drawings, BOMs, assembly work instructions, etc. 
• Assist with simulations as required to support technical projects, including FEA and thermal analysis
• Assist with design for machining and manufacturability, including working with machining suppliers 
• Assist with materials selection for different applications (metals and plastics)
• Effectively balance multiple projects, responsibilities, and tasks
• Work with the purchasing team to source ideal products and components 
• Develop reliability test plans and perform reliability tests
• Support manufacturing through assembly and testing of new designs. 

Qualifications & Experience: 

• Enrollment in an accredited Mechanical Engineering program; MSEE preferred
• Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software
• Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design principles and best practices. Understanding of design standards such as ANSI and ISO and how to apply them. 
• Collaborate with rest of Engineering team to work through technical challenges 
• Ability to operate independently with limited instruction preferred 
• Strong foundation in engineering mechanics, design failure risk analysis, mechanical testing, and technical documentation 
• Extreme attention to detail 
• Must be proficient in English

• Opto-mechanical design experience
• High-tolerance design and surface finish specification experience
